Easter Sunday falls on 28 March 2027. Build the table around one dominant pastel — green for renewal, yellow for spring light, or soft blue and white for a quieter scheme — and keep the dinnerware neutral if the cloth is patterned. When Is Easter 2027, and When to Order

Easter Sunday 2027 is 28 March, with Good Friday on 26 March and Easter Monday on 29 March. That is an early Easter, which matters more than it sounds.

An early Easter arrives before most gardens have much to give, so the palette leans on linen, porcelain and lasting stems rather than abundant cut flowers. Order table linen four to six weeks ahead. Embroidered sets are made in limited runs and several carry a one to two week lead time even when in stock, so late February is the point at which choice starts to narrow.

Choose One Dominant Colour, Then Build Around It

Pick a single pastel to lead and let everything else support it. Tables that fail usually have three pastels competing at equal strength.

Green reads as renewal and is the most forgiving, sitting well with white porcelain, natural wood and almost any flower. Yellow carries the most spring light and suits an early Easter where the garden is still bare. Getting the Tablecloth Size Right

A tablecloth should be at least 30cm longer and wider than the table itself, giving a 15cm drop on every side. For a formal Easter lunch, 50cm to 60cm longer and wider gives a drop that falls properly into the lap.

Measure the table top, not the leaves you may add, then add the drop twice — once for each side. Standard cloths run to set sizes such as 130 x 200cm, 130 x 250cm and 130 x 300cm, so measure before ordering rather than after. A cloth that stops short of the table edge undoes the rest of the setting.

Choosing Dinnerware for an Easter Table

If the tablecloth is patterned, keep the dinnerware neutral. Classic white or off-white lets the linen do the work, and nothing on the table ends up arguing.

One rule holds either way — do not put a patterned plate on a patterned cloth unless the two share a colour. If they do not, the setting reads as busy rather than considered.

Eggs, Bunnies, Candles and Flowers

Keep the centrepiece below 30cm so guests can see over it, and run it down the centre in a line rather than massing it in one place. Eggs and bunnies belong at the centre, not scattered across every setting.

• One dominant colour, two supporting neutrals. Ivory and white are neutrals. A second pastel is not.
• Keep the centre under 30cm. Anything taller and guests talk around it rather than across it.
• Iron the cloth on the table. Fold creases show most in daylight, which is when Easter lunch is served.
