Rosenthal was founded in 1879 by Philipp Rosenthal in Selb, Bavaria—a region renowned for its exceptionally pure kaolin clay. Originally starting as a porcelain painting workshop, the company quickly evolved into a fully-fledged manufacturer by 1891.
