Keeping Your Table On Trend: Pantone Colour Of The Year

As the new year begins designers worldwide wait with bated breath to see what the colour connoisseurs, Pantone, announce as this year's colour of the year. We’ve seen it all, from 2022’s ‘very peri’ periwinkle shade to 2009’s ‘Mimosa’ yellow. These colours then go on to influence the design world for that coming year, across many industries.

In 2023 we were graced with ‘Vivid Magenta’ from the shade savants. Described as 'an unconventional shade for an unconventional time, Vivid Magenta is a crimson red with tones that lean towards a more classic pink magenta, finding a balance between warm and cool. Pantone have said this colour “revels in pure joy, encouraging experimentation and self-expression without restraint, an electrifying, and a boundless shade that is manifesting as a stand-out statement.”

So, maybe 2023 is the year to step away from your muted pastel napkins and classic nude tablecloths? If you’ve always wanted to add a pop of colour to your table decor, then what better time to start than now? Vivid Magenta is a beautiful colour, and thanks to its red-ish-pink tones, it is actually really easy to incorporate into your dining table settings and pair with your existing decorations. We have no doubt you want your table to look elegant and refined. We want that pop of colour to be memorable, but tasteful. The best way to do this is to find a neutral base colour, something that works well alongside Vivid magenta but doesn’t steal the show.

Look for a tablecloth or runner in one of the following colours:

  • Light grey
  • Sand
  • Black
  • Gold
  • Silver

We have an extensive range of tablecloths and table runners, so you will undoubtedly find one that fits the bill.Once you’ve found the perfect tablecloth and table runner, you’ll want to find a good matching set of placemats and coasters. These can either be neutral, or this could be where you begin introducing that stunning Vivid Magenta shade. Our personal favourite for placemats is the ‘Regent Placemat by Kim Seybert’, adding a layer of luxury and the introduction of colour with that beautiful band of pink and deep red jewels. While we are besotted with these adorable but classy ‘Flamingo Drink Coaster by Joanna Buchanan’, once again incorporating those red and pink tones in the jewelled ‘feathers’.

On to the dinnerware, glassware, and cutlery. For dinnerware, you can choose to be as subtle or extravagant as you’d like. If you want to be a little more subtle perhaps you could choose plates with a small pop of colour; such as ‘Dinner Plate No.1 by Cristobal Rouge’. Alternatively, if you’re looking for something a little more eclectic perhaps, the ‘Pasta plate 24 by Cristobal Rouge’ would be the right fit for you. The entire Cristobal Rouge by Raynaud range is a great way to incorporate some vibrant reds and corals into your table settings.

For glasses, we would like to direct your attention to the stunning mouth-blown Springtime Glassware By Varga Crystal, particularly the raspberry range. Just look at how stunning this ‘Springtime Rasberry Water Glass’ is.

Next up, we recommend finding the perfect napkin and napkin ring.

If you've gone for a more simple dinnerware set, napkins are a great way to bring us back to that vibrant colour scheme. We love this stunning pair of ‘Bow Linen Napkins in Berry by Joanna Buchana’. Of course, the perfect napkin can only be enhanced by the perfect napkin ring, and sticking with the Vivid magenta theme we couldn't forget about this stunning set of ‘Sparkling Starfish Napkin Rings by Joanna Buchanan’

Last but not least, and possibly the most fun of all; decorations! These are the bits that may not be totally necessary but undoubtedly enhance the entire table setting and in turn the luxury dining experience. Think centrepieces, candelabras, and flowers; this is the part that you can really get creative with. Perhaps your table is inspired by the ocean, so why not add this adorable ‘Amber Red Seahorse ‘Mer De Coral’ by Duam’ centrepiece? Or if you’re going for something a little more simple and refined then this ‘Handmade Classic Candleholder From Murano Glass in Red’ could be a lovely inclusion. Additionally, if you would like to bring a little spring/summer to your table, adding some flowers can really elevate your table. Our collection of artificial flowers are perfect for adding a pop of colour without the maintenance of fresh flowers. If you're looking for something to complement your Vivid Magenta-themed table, we love the - ‘Silk Orchid Cymbidium By Silk-Ka’.Setting your table is a great time to be a little playful and creative. If you are usually a ‘classic nudes’ kind of person then incorporating a little colour can be daunting, but we hope that we have given you a little inspiration on where to start. We have no doubt that bringing Vivid Magenta into your table decor will leave a lasting impression on your guests.
