Frequently Asked Questions About Le Jacquard Français
Here are some of the most common questions our clients ask about our Le Jacquard Français collection.
The origins of Le Jacquard Français date back to 1861 when Benjamin Baer moved to Gérardmer, France, to work as a fabric manufacturer. Following his passing in 1888, his partner Nathan Lévy took over, marking the official birth of the brand's legacy. By 1902, the founders built their own mechanical weaving workshop. For over 130 years, the company has preserved the art of jacquard weaving (invented by Joseph-Marie Jacquard), earning the prestigious EPV (Living Heritage Enterprise) certification from the French government in 2010 for its excellence in craftsmanship.
All Le Jacquard Français textiles are proudly and exclusively manufactured in France. The company operates from its historic factory in Gérardmer, located in the Vosges mountains, a region traditionally known as the cradle of the French textile industry.
The brand is strictly committed to using exceptional, 100% natural materials. They utilize the finest combed cotton yarns (which provide incomparable shine and precision) and premium, eco-responsible European linen, known for its strength, refinement, and environmental sustainability.
Yes, Le Jacquard Français is committed to responsible production. They manufacture products holding the OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 label (CQ 1190/1, IFTH). This independent international certification guarantees that the textiles are completely free from substances that are harmful to human health and the environment.
To maintain their beauty, both the cotton and linen pieces should be machine washed at a maximum temperature of 60°C (140°F). You should never use bleach or tumble dry them. For a crisp, professional look, iron the linens at a maximum soleplate temperature of 200°C (392°F). Professional dry cleaning is not recommended, though normal professional wet cleaning is safe.
