Frequently Asked Questions About Rosenthal
Here are some of the most common questions our clients ask about our Rosenthal collection.
Rosenthal was founded in 1879 by Philipp Rosenthal in Selb, Bavaria—a region renowned for its exceptionally pure kaolin clay. Originally starting as a porcelain painting workshop, the company quickly evolved into a fully-fledged manufacturer by 1891. Rosenthal revolutionized the tableware industry in the 20th century by collaborating with over 150 world-famous artists, architects, and designers (including Walter Gropius and Gianni Versace), establishing the brand as a pioneer that bridged the gap between fine art and functional dining.
Designed by the celebrated French designer Cédric Ragot, the Rosenthal Squall Vase captures the dynamic movement of a whirlwind in solid form. Depending on the finish, it is crafted from high-fired hard-paste porcelain (as seen in the Glaze White version) or coated in luxurious metallic finishes like Gold Titanium or Platinum Titanium, making it a spectacular sculptural centerpiece.
Authentic Rosenthal porcelain is a premium luxury investment. On Amiramour, a complete 15-piece Tea and Coffee Set from the exquisite Francis Carreau Green collection (which typically includes a teapot, creamer, sugar bowl, and cups with saucers) is priced at €2,554.
Unlike their traditional porcelain items, the Rosenthal Triu vase is expertly crafted from borosilicate glass. This specialized glass allows the vase to be formed into its continuous, interconnected tubular shape. It is then finished with a metallic coating—such as Silver or Gold—resulting in a highly reflective, contemporary home accessory.
Due to its dramatic, twisted architectural shape, the Squall vase acts as a piece of standalone art. Interior designers recommend placing the 32cm Gold or Platinum Titanium versions on a minimalist console table or as a central dining table focal point. It can be styled empty, or with a very simple, monochromatic floral arrangement (like a single white orchid or calla lily) so the flowers do not compete with the vase’s complex structure.
