Designed by Simone Fanciullacci, this captivating creation pairs a solid walnut wood top with smooth travertine marble legs, carved with sculptural precision to form a piece that is both artistic and functional.
Inspired by the ancient Wari game, also known as Mancala, Awari, or Oware, this design pays homage to one of humanity’s oldest strategic pastimes, believed to have originated in Egypt or Ethiopia. Traditionally played as a social ritual of connection and intellect, Giobagnara elevates this heritage into a refined objet d’art that graces any contemporary home, yacht, or private suite.
The board’s hand-carved recesses hold elegant black and white Bakelite beads, while the tactile interplay between warm walnut and natural travertine makes each piece unique, reflecting the organic beauty of its materials.
How to play:
Wari is a two-player game of logic and foresight. Players take turns redistributing the beads around the carved wells, aiming to capture the most beads by anticipating each move. Both meditative and strategic, it remains a timeless game of balance, patience, and intellect.
