'OCEANIDE' Tablecloth in White Linen by Alexandre Turpault
AVAILABLE: 2-3 weeks delivery
The 'Oceanide' tablecloth, named "How the stars are born", refers to a story inspired by human mythologies, where the sky and the sea merge to create the earth.
A great wave brings the riches of the sea to the surface. Coral branches, pearls and starfish are projected to the sky's horizon. The corals form mountains, the pearls form rivers and the starfish fly to the farthest reaches of the universe. Henceforth, five-pointed stars shine in the firmament, their brilliance attracting the astonished gaze of men who will give these constellations their names of marine divinities.
'Oceanide' is the fusion of a large-scale digital print design and a refined work of embroidery in shades of beige and white gold thread. The printing is concentrated on the edges of the tablecloth and the embroidery on the centre. A great wave from a mythical ocean rolls in tumultuous waves over the whiteness of a linen tablecloth.
There is strength in the movement printed by the stylised pointillist graphics inspired by ancient mosaics and softness in the palette of neutral tones (grey and taupe). A wide variety of details and small motifs (coral branches, pearls, stars of the sea and sky) printed or embroidered contribute to the high added value of this beautiful product from French craftsmanship.
Perfectly crafted, chic and sober with 5cm hems and hooded corners.
